Olympus Musicus – International Music Festival

International master classes for young talented classical musicians, the Prague Summer Academy, have taken place in Prague every year since 2008. Young talented artists from the Czech Republic and many other countries in the world have the unique opportunity to meet reputable and globally renowned concert artists in the city on the Vltava River. In the course of an Academy, these artists become friends and professors to the students, who in turn can acquire valuable experience and knowledge thanks to the mutual interpretation of pre-selected musical works.

In 2012, the idea was born to present the results of these creative intergenerational meetings to a wider audience and to enrich cultural summer events in Prague and other cities of the Czech Republic. The idea was introduced by the non-profit organisation Olympus Musicus, whose aims include the support of young talented artists in the Czech Republic. In line with its goals, the organisation has become the organiser of today’s traditional festive culmination of the mutual work of professors and the most talented students of the Prague Music Academy.

For the first time, this year’s festival will carry the same name as its organising body: Olympus Musicus. The organisers would like to express and underline the exceptional nature of this musical summer event, which deserves to be called a Musical Olympus, both in regards to the presented works as well as the quality of their interpretation.

We warmly invite all lovers of classical music to the beautiful concerts of the already 7th edition of this unique festival. The concerts are traditionally held in the most prestigious concert halls in the city of Prague (e.g. the Main Hall of the Valdštejn Palace, the House Dům U Kamenného zvonu on the Old Town Square; the Klementinum Mirror Chapel; the Rudolfinum Suk Hall; and the church Annunciation of Blessed Virgin Mary in Úhonice).

We look forward to our common summer meetings on the Music Olympus.
