Born in Russia, Evgenia Epshtein began playing the violin at the age of six and studied at a school for gifted musicians under Vladimir Milshtein. After emigrating to Israel in 1990, she continued her studies at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music with Arthur Zisserman, Yair Kless, and Irena Svetlova, and later with Benzion Shamir at the Royal Conservatory in Rotterdam, where she earned her master’s degree. During her studies, she won several competitions and took part in masterclasses with Isaac Stern, Henry Meyer, and Zakhar Bron.
Evgenia is a co-founder of the Aviv String Quartet, which has received prestigious awards at competitions in Melbourne, Bordeaux, and the Charles Hennen Music Competition. The Ministers of Culture of Germany and Israel have repeatedly recognized the quartet as “the best young ensemble.”
As a soloist, she has performed with orchestras such as Reconsil Sinfonietta (Vienna), the Bucharest Philharmonic, Zadar Chamber Orchestra, Split Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic, the Oxford Philharmonic, and chamber and symphony orchestras in Mexico, Baku, Ashdod, and Ramat Gan. She has given recitals throughout Israel, and her performances have been broadcast on radio stations around the world. She has participated in festivals in Estonia, Sweden, Slovenia, the Czech Republic (Ameropa), the United Kingdom, Italy, and Croatia (Osor).
As a violinist and chamber musician, she regularly teaches masterclasses, including at ISA in Austria, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, the Shanghai Conservatory, and institutions in Riga, Sofia, Wrocław, Kraków, Vienna, Trakai (Lithuania), and at UNAM University in Mexico.
She currently serves as an associate professor at the Academy of Arts in Split, where she teaches violin and chamber music. She is also one of the principal members of the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and the founder of the violin ensemble KINOR.
