About the Olympus Musicus Festival
Since 2008, the Prague Summer Academy—international summer masterclasses for young, talented classical music performers—has been held annually in Prague.

Young artists from the Czech Republic and abroad have the unique opportunity to meet renowned, world-class Czech and international concert masters in the city on the Vltava River. During the academy, these masters become not only their teachers but also colleagues, offering valuable knowledge and experience through the shared interpretation of carefully selected musical works.

The Birth of the Festival
The idea of presenting the creative results of this intergenerational encounter to the wider musical public—and enriching the summer cultural life of Prague and other Czech cities—was brought to life in 2012 by the non-profit organization Olympus Musicus.

In line with its mission to support young artists in the Czech Republic, the organization also became the organizer of what has now become the traditional festival culmination of the collaboration between professors and the most gifted students of the Prague Summer Academy.

The name Olympus Musicus reflects the organizers’ intent to emphasize the exceptional nature of this musical event. Both the artistic programming and the interpretative quality of the performances aim to embody the highest aesthetic and artistic values—those worthy of being associated with the metaphorical “Musical Olympus,” symbolizing the pinnacle of musical excellence.
