Marius Dominykas Sakavičius was born in 1994. From 2002 to 2014, he studied cello under Roman Armonas at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art. During the later years of his studies, he received awards in several national string competitions, both as a soloist and as a member of chamber ensembles.
In 2020, he completed his bachelor’s degree, and in 2022 his master’s degree, under the guidance of Associate Professor Ramutė Kalnėnaitė at the Music Academy of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas. During this time, he won 1st prize at the 11th International Alexander Glazunov Competition in Paris (2019) and 1st prize at the “Art of Sound” International Competition (2019) as a member of the chamber ensemble “Trio Bohemiae.”
Since 2016, he has regularly participated in the Olympus Musicus International Festival in Prague, performing both as a soloist and in various chamber ensembles.
As a soloist, he has appeared with several orchestras: the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, the “Ąžuolynas” Wind Orchestra from Kaunas, the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, and others.
In the field of chamber music, he actively performs with “Trio Bohemiae,” the harp trio “Vita chordis,” the piano trio “Vytautas Magnus Trio,” the chamber ensemble “Paleasis,” and the “Švitrigaila String Quartet.”
He is also deeply involved in contemporary art projects, collaborating with the dance group “Seiko Dance Company.” He contributed music to the project “Radvilos eleKtRONIKOS” (Cultural-Historical Festival “Radviliada,” Kėdainiai, 2022) and the project “Nesiekiant žemės” (part of the Vilnius Culture Night Festival, 2024).
He has performed not only in Lithuania but also in Latvia, Estonia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Denmark, Israel, the United Kingdom, and many other countries.
